FRANKLIN MINT
PEWTER CIVIL WAR CHESS SET
This is a 12" x 12"wooden board/case with Blue and Gray tiles with (32) 2inch pewter, highly detailed Civil war soldiers detailed in Blue or Gray enamel, featuring General Robert E Lee and Ulysses S Grant.
Originally, this set was several hundreds of dollars. It also came with a certificate of authenticity and small booklets detailing the individual pieces. They are not with this auction unfortunately. I purchased this set without them. But, still a very beautifully detailed and collectible chess set!!!
The figures are housed in the plush tray that the game board rests on. All figures are here and complete. The wooden edges of the board show some wear from age and handling but, still very nice!!!
