It's that magical time again boys and ghouls! Time for another EHAG (Eclectic Halloween Artists Group) creative art challenge!
This time our group's challenge theme is Wintry and SpOOky Owls and did I ever have fun!
I had several ideas for this challenge, so instead of choosing one........I decided to make both. This is my second piece. It was a bit of a challenge for me though.......since I've never created an owl before......plus.....I decided to challenge myself a wee bit more and used a new technique as well! I'll tell what......I really have a new respect for all of you needle felting artists out there. Sure......I needle felt my dolly hair into place, but I've never needle felted a little critter before! LOL! I hope enjoy her!
I came across this small decorative bird cage this past summer when my neighbor decided to do some major house cleaning. This darling little thing was about to make a trip to the landfill.....but I just couldn't let that happen. I knew I could create something cute with it...and here it is.
This Wintry White Owl Cage doll is an Enchanted Productions Original One of a Kind and will not be reproduced. She will arrive at your home signed, dated and smelling wonderful! Also included, will be her Certificate of Authenticity.
It measures approximately 16" tall and is securely attached to this decorative metal cage. The cage itself has been primed, base painted, splatter painted and sealed.
The owl is sewn of osnaburg muslin and has been needle felted with white sheep's wool. Her large golden eyes have been hand painted and her wee little black painted beak has been needle sculpted.
The bodice and sleeves of her dress are sewn of ivory Dupioni silk and is trimmed at the neckline with a black ribbon ruff. A small ivory ribbon laces up her bodice over black crinkled cotton.
Her skirt is sewn of black velvet, black lace and accented at the sides with ivory ribbon bows.
The waistline is trimmed with ivory lace, black gathered ribbon and accented with a rhinestone button.
